What is the difference between Rolfing (structural integration) and massage?
Structural Integration influences structure and works with fascia to create the possibility for lasting change in the body. Massage creates the relaxation response in the body that allows a person to receive nourishing touch.
What do I need to wear for bodywork sessions?
Session with Richard: Please wear loose fitting shorts and shirt, underwear/bra, or a two-piece bathing suit. No spandex, please. You may change at our office. before the session. Session with Jenny: Please wear comfortable, warm clothing.
What is the difference between Rolfing Structural Integration and KMI Structural Integration?
Simply stated, Rolfing is a function based series and is done in 10 sessions. KMI is an anatomy-based series and is done in 12 sessions. Both Rolfing and KMI are trade names, and both are derived from the genius of Ida Rolf, PhD.
How many sessions does Structural Integration require?
We offer individual sessions, a 3 session Structural series, a 10 Session SI Series and a 12 session KMI series.
Does this type of bodywork hurt?
Strong sensation is possible during bodywork, and sessions are always tailored to the client's needs and comfort level. Richard and Jenny are listening to the body's tissues at all times and never forcing to achieve a result.
How often should I get sessions?
Once every week or two weeks is optimal, and we recommend a schedule that meets your individual needs, finances, and time constraints.
